From 1950s optimism to 21st century moxie, Chevrolet has always represented everything aspirational about the automotive experience. Of course, part of that appeal is the franchise's long history of creating many of the world's most iconic vehicles. And that unique axiom is exactly where you'll find this stellar tri-five custom: self-assuredly rumbling at the crossroads of timeless style and world-class athleticism. Timeless, of course, because it's a 1957 210 that's been lovingly massaged through a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration. And a world-class stoplight slayer because, during that restoration, it was fitted with 6.2 liters of smooth Chevrolet Performance small block! Ready to see why the bowtie brand is affectionately called USA-1?
Cruised and cherished by the same loving family for 51 years, until 2023, this sultry 210 rolls on the right side of excellent thanks to a professional rotisserie restoration that was perfected by the pros at Cleveland, Georgia's Designer Street Rods. Naturally, that build involved nut-and-bolt disassembly and a full strip to bare metal. Once solid and smooth, those timeless surfaces were carefully sealed in glossy two-stage that reflects a custom take on Aston Martin Charcoal Gray. And today, this sweet Chevy is a lights-out custom that's earned national accolades at some of the biggest shows in the collector car hobby!
Enact this Chevy's polished hood supports and you'll find 6.2 liters of divine GM small block. Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376/480, that trusty engine twists a respectable 495 horsepower into 473 lb./ft. of torque! At the top of the block, a polished air box slinks breeze through a proven GM throttle body. The smooth valvetrain funnels spent gases through coated Hooker Super Competition headers. There's a lightweight aluminum radiator that's slid between a custom support and twin puller fans. A bright serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. And, as you likely deduced from our photos, the fresh mill rolls in a smooth, body-matched frame that's finished with niceties like trick dipsticks, blended brake components, custom inner fenders and a smoothed firewall.
Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy bowtie continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. Glossy floors create a picturesque backdrop for a crisp factory frame that's been stripped, smoothed and fully finished. That chassis looks especially appealing built with tubular arms, big sway bars, QA-1 coil-overs, QA-1 shocks and monochromatic lowering blocks. Behind the LS3, a tough 4L70E 4-speed automatic makes excellent use of a color-keyed Currie 9-inch. Easy turns come courtesy of a power-assisted BorgWarner steering box. Speed gets scrubbed by power-assisted Baer calipers, which drain a quality Baer master cylinder to cinch drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. Aluminized exhaust feeds rowdy Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips. And all that hardware rolls on handsome Billet Specialties Invaders, which spin 225/45ZR18 front and 255/40ZR19 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Swing the doors and you'll find attractive custom upholstery that was professionally stitched and installed by Paul Atkins Interiors of Hanceville, Alabama. Supple bucket seats wrap subtle lap belts and rich Terracotta leather around full power adjustment for both the car's driver and front passenger. A custom console stretches glossy carbon fiber trim around billet power window switches, a short Lokar shifter and custom Kenwood audio that's complete with a backup camera. A body-matched 210 dash hangs Classic Instruments gauges over billet foot pedals and controls for Vintage Air climate control. Flowing door panels float a sharp combination of billet and carbon fiber between clean Daytona Carpet and remote-controlled power door locks. And the driver spins a polished and bowtie-branded steering wheel around a tilting Ididit column.
Owning a lights-out classic is cool. Owning a lights-out classic that's been tastefully customized is something few are lucky enough to experience. Owning a tastefully customized, lights-out classic that's propelled by one of the hottest powerplants ever created is the stuff most gearheads dream about. Don't miss your chance to enjoy this incredible tri-five!
