When sales began to slide in showrooms, it became clear to Pontiac that their salvation would be to continue to build on its performance image. As they proceeded to do so and by 1962 the desired result of increased sales was a reality. Leading the effort was Pontiac chief engineer John Z. DeLorean who insisted that performance and styling would sell more cars. DeLorean designed the GTO, but Pontiac General Manager Elliot "Pete" Estes is credited with pushing the idea through politics at GM. Wildly popular upon its introduction, Pontiac created an instant legend with the GTO, a status that has followed the car through time. To this day, the GTO remains one of the most sought after and collectable cars of all time. The birth of the GTO represents the beginning of the Muscle Car era, a craze that still enjoys tremendous popularity with collectors today!

Offered for sale here is a superb example of one of GM's greatest creations, the 1967 GTO Convertible! Equipped with its original, number's matching 1967 date-coded WT 400ci V-8 mated to a Hurst 4-speed manual transmission, factory bucket seats with console, Rally Gauges with dash tachometer, Safe-T-Track axle, 14” Rally I wheels with Goodyear F70-14 Wide Tread polyglas redline tires, factory-ordered power front disc brakes, Ride and Handling Package, quick-ratio power steering, AM radio with front and Verba-Phonic rear seat speaker, All tinted Soft-Ray glass, Custom Sports steering wheel, remote control outside mirror, passenger vanity mirror, and carpeted floor mats. It all adds up to a terrific road-going example!

Finished in stunning Tyrol Blue over Parchment interior and new white top, this GTO boasts a frame-off restoration completed in approximately 2015! The complete car was disassembled to receive fresh components, suspension, brakes, exterior finish, weather stripping, window gaskets, fully rebuilt drivetrain components, new stainless steel Pypes exhaust with X-pipe, brakes, all interior upholstery, interior carpet, door panels, convertible top & boot cover, wheels/tires, and windshield are all brand new! The body was originally Code A- Tuxedo Black from the factory, so it was professionally stripped, prepped, primered, block sanded, painted, clear coated, wet sanded, and buffed to a smooth 2-stage finish in new period correct Tyrol Blue! The engine was completely rebuilt to stock specification with new clutch and comes nicely detailed with period correct GM hoses with tower clamps, factory Harrison radiator, Quadrajet carburetion, “670” heads, and pinch style battery clamps for an impressive under hood presentation. To improve the durability of the factory components, the M20 wide-ratio Muncie transmission and 12-bolt 3.31 Posi-Traction rear axle (CCF) in this GTO are rebuilt units borrowed from a 1970 Chevelle SS396. It starts and runs excellent with the confidence to put the 400ci V8 to work as it should!

You'll find some original trim and interior parts, but nearly all major components are new or rebuilt! It is superbly solid underneath and highly details which is a testament to its care over the years! With a great blend of performance, eye appeal, sound and classic Muscle Car vibe, this bright shining GTO will be right at home at a local show or cruising to your favorite weekend getaway spot. The astute collector will not miss this opportunity! Act quickly on this one!
