New factory hood tach now available from The Parts Place. Don't confuse our tach with the others out there that have copied our white outer shell. Back lit number/pointer design. Pointer will accept factory GM tach harness; all others have a generic harness. Also included - the factory harness and installation instructions. Will also accept factory heater vacuum hose to tach.* 

Look at some of the pictures we have of the tach at night lit up. You can actually see the pointer light up at night. Competitors don't have backlit pointer design, making ours superior to the others out there.



A few quality points with our tach:

1) Has clear glass lens (not plastic that will discolor or scratch)

2) Accepts factory GM tach harness (not generic universal like the competitors)

3) Top and bottom are screwed together like factory (not silicone glued together like the competitors)

4) 100% like original in fit and finish

5) Can be connected to the dash light to be dimmed

6) Made in the USA with all new parts



Fits 68 GTO / LeMans / Firebird models. This tach has a bluish grey face.

*This heater vacuum hose to tach came out in 1970 due to GM having problems with the tach fogging up. GM's fix was to connect a vacuum hose to the bottom of the tach to the heater box on the firewall. What this allowed was to keep warm air blowing into the tach at all times. The biggest problem was they built up condensation inside the tach, causing the movement to fail.This tach will work with factory GM points or factory HEI. It may need a tach adapter when using this on MSD or after market ignition.

 

Please note this hood tach is only compatible with 8 cylinder cars. They will not work on 4 or 6 cylinder cars.
