Check it out here:
New factory style hood tach now available from The Parts Place. Don't confuse our tach with the others out there that have copied our white outer shell. Back lit number/pointer design. Also includes - a harness and installation instructions(for GTO and Buick). Competitors don't have a backlit pointer design, making ours superior to the others out there. If you always like the look of a hood tach, but thought it was silly to bolt a tach that said Pontiac on your Chevelle, now you can! The face of this tach doesn't have a name on it so you can use this on pretty much any muscle car out there. This tach works with factory points and GM HEI distributors, will work with aftermarket ignitions only if you use a module (available through most speed shops).
A few quality points with our tach:
1) Has clear glass lens (not plastic that will discolor or scratch)
2) Uses a GM style tach harness (for GTO and Skylark, not generic universal like the competitors)
3) Top and bottom are screwed together like factory (not silicone glued together like the competitors)
4) 100% like original in fit and finish
5) Can be connected to the dash light to be dimmed
Please note this hood tach is only compatible with 8 cylinder cars. They will not work on 4 or 6 cylinder cars.
This tach will work with factory GM points or factory HEI. It may need a tach adapter when using this on MSD or after market ignition.
Tachometers will work with factory GM points or factory HEI ignition. When using an aftermarket ignition system likes MSD, Accel, Patronix, ect. A lot of these systems generates higher output voltage to the tach lead than what a factory GM tach can handle. Factory GM tachs can operate on voltage ranging from 11.2 to 14.7 Most aftermarket ignition systems generate over 18 volts. You will need to buy from the manufacture of your ignition system an adapter to lower the voltage to the GM factory voltage.
