This is an original GM black sport grip steering wheel. This wheel was originally released as standard equipment on 1969 Corvettes and was optional on other 69 Chevrolet models under option number NK1. This wheel was used on Corvettes through the mid 70s and was optional on other Chevrolet models including the 1970 Chevelle. Other GM models like Olds and Buick used the same steering wheel on high performance models like the Cutlass/442 and Skylark/GS. This wheel uses the same hubs as the GM simulated wood wheels so reproduction hubs are available for most every make and model. This is an awesome original GM sport grip steering wheel.
Finding a nice original one of these wheels is near impossible today. The hub, horn parts, and cap are not included but are readily available from restoration parts houses at reasonable prices. If you need a hub, horn contact, or horn button, I have a few available, please inquire. The most important part is finding a nice original wheels since the reproductions are a joke.
This wheel is in very good original condition as shown. This is an original black rimmed wheel that has never been painted or dyed. The grip is very nice as shown with the original grain still visible throughout. The grip feels great with no gooey or stickiness that these wheels commonly get with age. The wheel is straight and true with no bends or bows. The stainless ring on the outer diameter of the rim is intact and still nice and tight in the groove. The stainless spokes are all very nice as shown. This is simply a very clean survivor wheel that would be right at home on the nicest of cars.
