Description

The classic Mini is one of the most significant automobiles of the 20th century. It was voted as the 2nd most influential vehicle just behind the Ford Model T to ever be mass produced. The compact British coupe was revolutionary when it was launched in 1959 and had an extremely long production run all the way through 2000! The brain child of Sir Alec Issigonis, the Mini was one of the first vehicles to be designed around the passenger compartment, ensuring ample room for such a small 120 inch length. To allow for such practical proportions the motor and gearbox shared the same oil, and the radiator was mounted to the side of the engine compartment. The car was an instant success and truly classless as both the working man, British elite, and celebrities were lining up to buy the smart looking new car. The Mini also had rally and racing victories as the motorsport world discovered how easy it was to toss one into a tight corner and the owners were treated to outstanding reliability as well, all good traits for winning races. All in all over 5.3 million Minis would be sold worldwide by the time production ended in 2000 and the name would live on in the retro styled new Mini launched under BMW control in late 2000.

This restored 1973 Mini was deseamed while it was refinished in a custom 3 stage Glasserit paint job, nicknamed "Razzle Dazzleberry", by the builder. The flames were hand painted by Pete Santini, based in Westminister, California. A manual sliding Webasto folding sunroof was installed for open air motoring. Wide fender flairs were molded into the body work and color matched 13-inch mini lite wheels were added for a more aggressive appearance. On top of custom paint and body work, the 1380cc engine has been upgraded with Omega 73.5mm pistons, stainless steel intake and exhaust valves, double valve springs, a Kent 276 camshaft, Ported and polished intake manifold, ARP rods, SPI Fuel injection, auxiliary cooling fan, and a Superflow/RC40 Exhaust to help it breathe. The interior received a makeover as well, including Corbeau reclining racing bucket seats, a custom matched back seat, alloy interior handles, John Cooper stainless sill plates, polished walnut dash, wood steering wheel, and red carpets. A modern Sony CD stereo w/ Aux and USB ports is fitted with rear deck speakers as well. The suspension is upgraded with Koni shocks, sport springs, and larger sway bars for go-kart like handling. New tires have just been fitted as well as a cooling system service. This Mini runs and drives excellent, has been fully detailed, and is ready to bring you many thrills ahead.
