The Last American Convertible
The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible was intended to be the last American Convertible ever to be built in Detroit. As Cadillac stated in their advertising, "It is the only Convertible now built in America and it will be our last, the very last".
This Cadillac was built in Detroit Michigan at the Cadillac Fleetwood Plant during the third week of January 1976. It was purchased new at Seymour Cadillac in Detroit Michigan on February 12, 1976.
The original owner drove it from the Cadillac Dealership in Detroit Michigan to his home in the suburbs. Then he never drove it again...ever!
Here is an opportunity to own the most likely lowest mile 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible ever offered for sale.
This Eldorado came out a collection of cars that my friends father collected throughout the years. His father was 60 years old when he purchased this Eldorado new. He passed away in 1995. We purchased two 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertibles, this one that his Father drove home from the Dealership and another with 11k miles. We acquired them both on January 8, 2022.
This car has been mechanically inspected from bumper to bumper, top to bottom by a Certified ASE Master Technician. We were very meticulous in this inspection prior to starting it in our shop. Nothing was overlooked or rushed in this process. We even put a camera scope in each cylinder and gas tank prior to turning the key.
After the start up, we carefully monitored it both by visually looking for anything and listening for anything out of sorts. We performed temperature checks to ensure proper coolant flow. We inspected it again, in the engine bay from the top and the bottom. No issues found.
We entered it in the Detroit Autorama just 55 days after we pulled it out its long term storage. People were amazed in the condition of this snap shot in time.
The Window Sticker, the last six digits of the VIN decal on the windshield, the EPA decal, the Fleetwood Plant Quality Control Approval To Ship decal are all still on the windows.
The plastic is still on the front seats. The 10 Day Temporary Registration was laying in back as it fell off the inside of the rear window.

The hood ornament was still in the glove box along with the Seymour dealer emblem and Owners Manual.
The Interior had bowls of charcoal briquettes and dryer sheets in the car. There was ZERO evidence of mice or any other critters anywhere. It still smells like a new car. It spent most of its life covered in the garage that was attached to the house. It sat on carpet over plastic. It had a little fan blowing under it to keep the air flowing. It was also temperature controlled.
The Exterior is exceptional condition. We have put new bumper fillers on as the originals were cracked. We used the ABS ones that are able to be shaped to fit better than the fiberglass cheap ones. We did save the originals and they go with the car. We color matched them the best we could do when you put plastic next to metal. We used a paint match camera to get a base then did several spray out samples to ensure a close as possible match.
There has been ZERO paint work on this car with the exception of the bumper fillers noted above. We measured each panel in various spots with a Paint Thickness Meter.
We have went around this car 7 times with various steps in compounds, polishes and pads. It was NOT wet sanded. It was then treated to a Professionally applied Ceramic Coating which was another 3 times around the car. The Ceramic Coating product used is a Professional Grade Product that is not available to consumers.
The engine bay is stock. It is unmodified. It comes with the AC Delco Freedom battery and a new AC Delco battery. If there was any evidence of any part that could have been "aged" out or not functioning, we would have replaced it and kept the original.
The undercarriage still has its red oxide and sound deadening applied not to be confused with undercoating. This car is not undercoated. Everything is original including the exhaust, color coded body mount bushing and gas tank. Like stated above: The fuel lines, brake lines, brakes, shocks, springs, cv joints, suspension, gaskets, seals, body mounts, frame and exhaust were all inspected.
This Eldorado runs and drives out awesome! No worries here as it is almost a new 1976 car!
Inspections prior to purchasing are ALWAYS welcome and encouraged. If you have any questions or concerns, please call. FaceTime inspections are also welcomed.
