This iconic Flathead-powered 1947 Mercury Eight Convertible is now available from MAXmotive’s Pittsburgh Showroom. It’s finished in an elegant gray with a plush burgundy leather interior. A forerunner in the custom and performance worlds, a smooth-running 239ci Flathead V8 is nestled under that massive hood. A neat option is the Columbia Overdrive 2-speed rear axle, which ably assists the 3-speed manual transmission to provide added performance and versatility. An authentic 1947 Mercury V-8 Operator’s Manual, collectible in itself, still has the instructions for the electric clock inside. A copy of the original Adjust-O-Matic Radio Owner’s Manual is included as well. The elegant theme carries over into the interior, with burgundy leather seating and a rich woodgrain dash. Wide whites, full chrome wheel covers, fender skirts, a chrome spotlight, and dual chrome “V8” exhaust tips all contribute to the classic magic of this Merc. The spacious trunk contains a spare tire and jack. As testimony to the ready-to-go status of this great car, there are seat belts in the front and back seats. And you may often be tempted to drive with the top up. The burgundy canvas top on this car is simply gorgeous. It’s power operated too. This 1947 Mercury Eight Convertible is a fine example, it’s an important part of American automotive history, and it’s all ready to drive and enjoy. See detailed photos at www.maxmotive.com.
